My Un-Valedictory Address

Exactly an hour and a half from the time I'm writing this entry, I'll be marching together with the other almost a thousand graduates of Ateneo de Davao University.

We will be wearing our smiles for the world to see. There will be joy and happiness around, and this joy we share not only to ourselves but also with our parents and loved ones and even our mentors and teachers.

But today is not just a graduation day, not the end of our lives, rather it is an opening. Today is the time to be thankful to our parents who worked so hard and dreamt of this day finally coming true even before we were born. To our teachers and mentors, thank you for imparting your knowledge to us and even disappointed us in some of your ways. My heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Thank you to our peers and friends to whom we share the boons and the banes of the life we call College.

But more than the medals, the diplomas, the wonderful photographs, today is a gift...

As we continue to jot down the story of another of our lives, may we remember this day as a present given by God, the One who has remained faithful to us...then, now and for sure, tomorrow.

Congratulations to the Class of 2009!

"Today is a gift...

that's why its called present.."

I'm just trying to take each moment at a time...

...enjoying every opportunity to pause for a second...

...counting every laugh and hug of a friend...

...a pat on the back...

...a perfect glimpse from afar...

Everything will just conspire,

...because tomorrow is a mystery...and today will just be part of history.
